The 6 Core Principles behind an effective productivity system

Chris, July 3, 2023July 3, 2023

I have spent a lot of time thinking about productivity and productivity systems.  I am not alone in this.  Last night I watched Ant Man & The Wasp – somehow this one had skipped me by and I hadn’t seen it before.  It got me thinking, if we were take our productivity system into the Quantum Realm, to see the core of what any system is built from, what would we find?  Yesterday I posted about Grace & Humility and I believe these are at the heart of it but from this I have written down the 6 Core principles behind an effective productivity system.  These are more abstract principles that create framework that everything else is built from and built on.

I will write them out here as I wrote them out for myself 2 years ago.  Each principle consists of short statement and a follow up statement.

Core Principle 1

Keep It Simple

  • avoid complexity just for the sake of it

Core Principle 2

Keep It Intentional/Planned

  • avoid distractions and learn to say no

Core Principle 3

Focus on Serving Others

  • selfishness is at the heart of sin

Core Principle 4

Focus on Core Values

  • discern what is important, reject everything else

Core Principle 5

Accept Limitations and Weakness

  • I cannot do everything.  Failure is inevitable but is not something to fear

Core Principle 6

Have Fun!

  • Why so serious?

So there you have it:

Have a simple system, which enables you to intentionally plan with a focus on serving others and on the core and important areas of life, acknowledging that you cannot do everything and will fail sometimes, but that’s ok, and that enables you to, on the whole, enjoy the fun things.
